RUBBER

AFTLEAT® (Surface treating agent for Vulcanised Rubber)

AFTLEAT ®

AFTLEAT® is a surface treating agent developed for getting remarkable adhesion of vulcanized rubbers in their pasting or painting processes.
Furthermore, AFTLEAT® can be applied as a surface treating agent, which decreases friction factor of a rubber surface.
These effects of AFTLEAT® comes from its chemical reaction with double bond of a rubber.
AFTLEAT® could enhance application of rubbers to automobile parts, construction materials, electric equipment or other industrial goods.

Characteristics

  • Remarkable effect by easy treatment procedure
  • Uniform treatment effect because of chemical reaction
  • No property change of a treated rubber

Physical properties

  • Color: pale yellow
  • Odor: thinner like odor
Precaution: its vapor irrigates eyes and throat or other mucous membranes.
  • Specific gravity: 0.901
  • Flash point: -4 degrees C
Flammable substance, category 4, 1st class petroleum, Hazard class 2
(Fire Service Law: Japan)

Treatment procedure

  • Pre-treatment: removal of dust or release agent from the rubber surface
  • AFTLEAT® treatment: by dipping, brushing or spraying
  • Application of an adhesive or a paint:
It should be applied after drying of AFTLEAT®, maybe after around 5 minutes.

Applicable rubbers

AFTLEAT® should be applied to rubbers with double bond.
  • Natural rubber (NR)
  • Poly-isoprene rubber (IR)
  • Styrene butadiene rubber (SBR)
  • Butadiene rubber (BR)
  • Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR)

Improvement of adhesion

AFTLEAT® improves adhesive strength in adhesion of vulcanized rubber / vulcanized rubber or vulcanized rubber / other materials.

Examples of AFTLEAT® application

  • Rubber shoe sole
  • Rubber roofing
  • Damping rubber
  • Tank lining material
  • Rubber hose
